Rome, 2020: Emphasis on the social dimension and digital in EHEA.

Two years after the Ministerial Conference organized by France in Paris in May 2018, the 49 member countries of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) adopted, in a remote meeting, on November 19, 2020, the Rome communique which defines, for the next decade, the main objectives for the implementation of the Bologna process. The next ministerial conference will be held in Albania in 2024.

The ministerial statement takes up the European student card initiative and insists on inclusion, sustainable and digital development: “Digital solutions will facilitate secure, efficient and transparent data exchange. Common digital approaches to improve recognition, quality assurance and mobility are needed. We ask to map the existing and find new solutions to improve the interoperability of digital systems and the exchange of student and institution data in full respect of confidentiality and security, taking into account the experiences of the initiative of the European student card and other initiatives ”.
