European student card project approved by EU

July 18th, 2016 in Paris, France.

The European student card (ESC) project submitted by Cnous and his 8 partners (DSW, Fondazione ENDISU, EDUCatt, ESU Padova, Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe, Crous Besançon, Strasbourg Crous, CSSI) is one of the projects selected by the French Erasmus+ Agency – Education & Training as part of its call for proposals for the Erasmus+ Programme 2016.

The project involves the creation of a digital platform for the recognition of student ID to be effective in some partner regions and cities of volunteer Member States. This digital recognition could facilitate access to services offered by the student services for students from European countries participating in the experimentation, especially for student accommodation requests, access to university catering at student rate or access to services offered by the host institutions (libraries).

After this testing phase, the other Member States will be invited to join this initiative in order to consider the generalization on a European scale, with the establishment of a European student card allowing automatic recognition of student status throughout Europe.

With a score of 90.5 points, the project exceeded the threshold of 60/100.

The maximal grant will amount to € 299,981.
