The ECStA was a driving force in the establishment of the Eurostudent reports. The first report was realised as a pilot project of Deutsches Studentenwerk (DSW) under the auspices of the European Council for Student Affairs (ECStA), and published a wide range of detailed data on the social and economic conditions of students in Germany, France, Italy and Austria. The surveys were carried out in 1995.
