Suicide Prevention Seminar

The rising demands for psychological help, and the gravity of students’ mental health challenges, have worried many of our colleagues in psychological advisory and counselling services across Europe.

To respond to this trend, we are happy to invite you to a professional training opportunity organised by DSW’s Department for Counselling Services, in cooperation with AMOSSHE-The Student Services Organisation from the UK.

The online seminar takes place on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025 from 10:00-12:00 AM (Central European Time) and is open to all staff in psychological or social counselling services of ECStA member organisations and their networks.

Our speakers, Jo Smith and Simon Merrywest, will present strategic approaches and good-practices from the UK, drawing on the recently published guidance for the higher education sector “Collective responsibility, collection action to prevent student suicide” as well as the recommendations “Suicide-Safer Universities”.

Participation in the seminar is free of charge, but requires prior registration. Please sign-up for the event by 19th of October at the latest (places are limited) using the online form.

Please find all relevant information in the information sheet and share this invitation among your own institution, colleagues or networks!

We would be happy to welcome you in October for an exchange on what to do in the field of suicide prevention.
